Bachelor of Creative Industries Workshops – For Years 11 – 13
Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology in partnership with Tauranga Art Gallery are delighted to offer a series of hands-on workshops taught by staff from the Bachelor of Creative Industries (BCI) for Years 11 – 13 during Week 1, Term 4.
Due to generous sponsorship from Toi Ohomai, all workshops and sessions are FREE to students, for classes of up to 15 students and will be held here at the gallery. Smaller groups of students can be combined with other groups, please enquire.
This is your opportunity to learn quick industry-relevant fashion design, graphic design and visual arts techniques. These workshops are designed to give students new approaches to designing.
All workshops are free of charge, materials are included and session times can be negotiated.
Workshop 3: Tukutuku – Geometric Abstraction
Wednesday, 16 October, 10:00am – 12:00pm
Tutor: Kelcy Taratoa
About the workshop: this drawing and painting session is an exploration in geometric abstraction and includes learning Taratoa’s ‘super flat’ painting technique.

There will also be sessions available for secondary school students with local artist and educator Kelcy Taratoa. There will also be a BCI panel discussion evening coming up in October and a professional development workshop for secondary teachers with Kelcy Taratoa in November – more information will come about these opportunities soon.
